BLAKE GRIFFIN TRAVELS BACK IN TIME TO PROMOTE KIA

We here at Berlin City Kia VT are big fans of the advertising campaign that Kia has embarked on with NBA superstar, Blake Griffin, and we’ve been eagerly awaiting the next installment. Today, we’re happy to share just that with you on our Kia blog.

If you happened to see the latest ad for the Kia Soul, then you witnessed its hamster mascots traveling through time to spread their infectious groove. Mr. Griffin is taking a page out of their book in his latest ad, but this time he’s doing so with the help of the Kia Optima mid-size sedan.

In the new ad, Blake uses the Kia Optima UVO infotainment system to travel back to the year 1995 (not an actual feature), and finds a six-year-old version of himself shooting some hoops. Griffin instructs his younger self to practice his free throws (even he admits they’re not the best), then quickly leaves.

Upon traveling back to the present, Griffin takes a shot, but misses; looks like he didn’t heed his own advice. In a second version of the ad, however, Griffin is at least able to deliver some advice that his younger self actually listens to. Using the Optima to travel to 1997, Griffin encounters his younger self again. This time, though, he’s playing football. Griffin tells his younger self that he’s playing the wrong sport. He also says to stop wearing jean shorts (at least he can instill some fashion sense).

At the end of the day, these two ads are quite a bit of fun, and they do a great job showing off the Kia Optima in a different way than we’d normally expect. You won’t have to catch Blake Griffin time traveling in order to take one for a test drive, however.
