KIA HOSTS SKILL NATIONAL CUP; PUTS SERVICE TECHS TO THE TEST

Kia owners who get their vehicles serviced here at Berlin City Kia VT rave about the integrity and high skill level of our Kia service team. In an effort test some of the top master technicians’ skills, and to create a standard that all Kia auto repair specialists are held to, the South Korean automaker recently hosted the Kia Skill National Cup at Kia Motors America headquarters in Irvine, California.

The biannual event brought 16 Kia service technicians, four each from from four regions; eastern, southern, central, and western. The winners of each of their regions will go on to represent their dealership at the Kia Skill World Cup, June 11th through 15th in Seoul, South Korea.

The competition requires all Kia technicians to stay up to date with the latest new Kia technology, including everything from engines, electronics and Kia parts. To qualify, technicians had to complete a 50-question online test with questions pertaining to all of the categories we mentioned above, and more. The four highest scorers in each region were then selected to take part in the National Skill Cup challenge, where they would have various diagnostic tests and challenges, and were judged on their ability to correctly identify and repair a vehicle within a certain amount of time, all while using the Kia repair and service best practices.

The contestants used many new Kia vehicles, including the 2012 Kia Optima Hybrid while completing their challenges, and were also judged on customer service, professionalism, and clean-up.
